Dadhasaheb Phalke award winning filmmaker K Balachander was admitted to a private hospital in the city after suffering from high fever and age-related health problems.

Kailasam Balachander (born July 9, 1930) is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer who works mainly in the Tamil film industry.
